The solver does use some disk so having a fast SSD as your boot drive with lots of free space will be beneficial, and watch the free space as it can get eaten up by the solves. Local solves do not use your GPU at all so that won't matter. The profits of a small number of shareholders with more than they could ever spend are not worth the legacy it leaves behind for future generations! Designers need to stop being a part of the problem!Ĩ cores would be better if you do a lot of local solves, your CPU has 4.

They should be ashamed! I shouldn't need a new computer (with all the environmental consumption/destruction that is involved with the production of that) to use a software program that previously worked more than adequately! (I didn't need an update!) How about when you update software, it is designed SMARTLY so that continual environmental plundering for new hardware is not BUILT IN to the way you make the new software! THIS IS ACTUALLY VERY POOR/LAZY/GREEDY DESIGN! New functionality for new tech is great- but it is not actually always needed by everyone and creating software that forces new hardware consumption when the "improvements" aren't actually needed by all is BAD DESIGN! (I'm currently an industrial design student and the previous version of fusion 360 was actually extremely suitable for my needs last semester and the fact it worked on older machines was why my lecturer used it in the course!)Ī new and "IMPROVED" version- is not actually an improvement if it ceases to work on older machines and drives more (unnecessary) environmental destruction by feeding into the continual demand for consumption of new hardware and all the e-waste and environmental destruction that creates!ĭevelopers working on these sorts of changes need to think long and hard about the legacy they are leaving for future generations. But up until recently I was using Fusion 360 quite happily on my old mac running 10.13.6.īasically Autodesk is contributing to the absolute environmental catastrophe that is planned obscelescance.
